Itinerary

Arrive at Gaya International Airport – The Land of Enlightenment and Salvation.
Here, Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree and became Buddha, “The Enlightened One.” This sacred city is revered as the spiritual home of Buddhists worldwide.

After completing immigration, collecting your luggage, and passing through customs, please proceed to the exit gate, where a Punpun Trails Representative will be waiting to welcome you with a paging board displaying your name.

You will then be transferred to your hotel and assisted with check-in. Standard check-in time is 1400 hrs. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at your Bodh Gaya hotel

ARRIVE GAYA AIRPORT – BODHGAYA  ( 8 Kms )

After breakfast, visit the Mahabodhi Temple and the sacred Bodhi Tree, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Mahabodhi Temple Complex also includes other significant sites such as Animesha Lochana Chaitya, Chankramana Asthal, Ratanaghara, Ajapala Nigrodha Tree, Muchalinda Sarovar, and Rajayatana Tree.

Later, visit Sujata Village across the Niranjana River, where Sujata Temple commemorates the maiden who offered milk rice to Gautam Buddha—his first meal after years of asceticism.

Later  visits to monasteries built by foreign countries such as Thailand, Tibet, Myanmar, Japan, and Sri Lanka (closing time: 4:30 PM), followed by the 80-foot Buddha statue.

Return to the hotel for lunch.

In the evening, visit the Mahabodhi Temple to attend the Sutta Chanting in Pali (6:30 PM – 7:00 PM).

Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

 

BODH GAYA

Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Vaishali en route Visit Rajgir, the first capital of Magadha, associated with Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavira. Buddha spent 12 years here, delivering many sermons at Vulture’s Peak, and the first Buddhist Council was held at the Saptaparni Caves.

Visit the Peace Pagoda (Vishwa Shanti Stupa) and Griddhakuta (Vulture’s Peak), where Buddha often meditated and preached. Continue to Venuvan (Bamboo Garden), a Japanese-style shrine gifted by King Bimbisara.

After lunch, drive to Nalanda (15 km) to explore the ruins of the ancient university, the International Centre for Buddhist Studies, and the Nalanda Museum (closed on Fridays).

Later, drive to Vaishali (115 km / 3 hrs). On arrival, check in at your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Vaishali.

Bodhgaya - Rajgir – Nalanda – Vaishali ( 200 Kms )

After breakfast, visit Vaishali, where Buddha delivered his last sermon. Explore Ananda Stupa, Ashokan Lion Pillar, World Peace Pagoda, Buddha Relic Stupa, and (subject to opening) the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa.

Return to the hotel for lunch, then drive to Kushinagar. En route, visit Kesariya Stupa, one of the largest in the world and the site where the Kalama Sutta was delivered. On arrival, check in at your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Kushinagar.

 Vaishali – Keshariya-Kushinagar (210 Kms/ 5 Hours) )

After breakfast at the hotel, visit one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites—where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana after his death.
Visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple, where Buddha took his final breaths. Inside the temple is a large golden statue of Buddha lying down with a gentle smile on his face. Next, visit Rambhar Stupa (also known as Mukutbandhan Chaitya), the cremation site of Lord Buddha, located 1.5 km from the Nirvana Temple.

Return to the hotel for lunch and rest for a while. Later drive to Lumbini, approximately 180 km / 5 hours. Lumbini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. En route, stop at the India/Nepal border for visa and immigration formalities (ensure you have a double or multiple-entry visa for India). Upon arrival in Lumbini, check in at your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in Lumbini.

 Kushinagar – Lumbini (180 Kms / 05 Hours )

After breakfast, visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, marked by the Mayadevi Temple, Pushkarini Pond, and the Ashokan Pillar inscription.

After lunch at the hotel, drive to Sravasti via Kapilavastu, the childhood home of Gautam Buddha. Continue to Sravasti (Sahet-Mahet), the ancient capital of Kosala, where Buddha delivered most of his sermons, performed miracles, and spent many monsoons at the Jetavana Monastery.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Sravasti.

 Lumbini – Kapilvastu- Saravasti (200 Kms / 5 Hour )

After breakfast at the hotel, visit Saheth (Jetavanaram), where Buddha is believed to have spent 24 rainy seasons, and Maheth (Angulimala Caves). You will also visit other sights in Shravasti, including Jetavana Vihara, the Ananda Bodhi Tree, various monasteries, Angulimala’s Stupa, and Anathapindika Stupa.

Return to the hotel for lunch, then drive to Varanasi, approximately 320 km away (about 8 hours). Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Benares, is the world’s oldest living city, situated on the banks of the Ganges River. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Varanasi.

Sravasti – Varanasi   (320 kms / 7  Hors drive)

Early morning boat ride on the Ganges, then return to the hotel for breakfast. Proceed to Sarnath, where Buddha delivered his first sermon. Visit Dhamekha Stupa, Deer Park, Chaukhandi Stupa, Ashokan Pillar, Sarnath Museum (closed on Fridays), and Mulagandhakuti Vihara. Return to the hotel for lunch, then drive to Bodhgaya. Dinner and overnight stay in Bodhgaya.

 Varanasi – Sarnath –  Bodh Gaya  ( 270 Kms/ 6 Hours )

After breakfast, visit the Dungeshwari Cave Temples (Mahakala Caves), where Buddha is believed to have meditated before his journey to Bodhgaya. The caves also contain Buddhist shrines, locally known as Sujata Sthan.

Return to Bodhgaya and visit the Mahabodhi Temple. After lunch at the hotel, you will be transferred to Gaya Airport for your flight to Delhi, and onward connection to your final destination.
