Embark on an 8-day Buddhist pilgrimage Tour from Gorakhpur Airport, covering Lumbini (birthplace of Buddha), Bodhgaya (enlightenment), Sarnath (first sermon), and Varanasi (spiritual city).

• Drive to Kushinagar
Travel to Kushinagar and visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple and Ramabhar Stupa, where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.

• Bodhgaya via Kesariya and Vaishali
En route to Bodhgaya, stop at Kesariya Stupa and Vaishali.

• Bodhgaya – The Place of Enlightenment
Visit the Mahabodhi Temple, the sacred site where Buddha attained enlightenment.

• Sarnath and Varanasi
Visit the Dhamekh Stupa in Sarnath and enjoy boating on the Ganga River in Varanasi.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Delhi International Airport and after completing all customs formalities, board your connecting flight to Gorakhpur.
Upon arrival at Gorakhpur Airport (GOP)  please proceed to the exit gate. A Punpun Trails representative will be waiting for you in the arrival lobby, holding a signboard with your name.

Later, drive to Lumbini (approximately 125 km / 3 hours). Lumbini is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Lord Buddha. En route, stop at the India/Nepal border for visa and immigration formalities. (Please ensure you have a Double or Multiple Entry Visa for India.)

Upon arrival in Lumbini, check in at the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Dinner and overnight stay in Lumbini.

DELHI  - GORKHAPUR AIRPORT- LUMBINI  ( Approx 3 Hours)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Prince Siddhartha (Lord Buddha), who was born under a sal tree on a full moon day in the month of April. Visit the Mayadevi Temple, dedicated to the mother of Lord Buddha. Inside the temple, a sacred stone marks the exact spot where Buddha was born.

Then, visit the Ashoka Pillar, erected by Emperor Ashoka to commemorate this holy site, and the Puskarini Sacred Pond, where baby Prince Siddhartha was bathed after his birth.

Return to the hotel for lunch. Drive to Kushinagar (approx.  180  km / 4 :30hours), one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites, where Gautam Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.

En route, stop at the India/Nepal border for visa and immigration formalities. (Please ensure you have a Double or Multiple Entry Visa for India.)

Upon arrival ,  Check In Hotel .  Dinner and overnight at Kushinagar.

LUMBINI - KUSHINAGAR  ( 180 Kms/ 4;30 Hours)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple, where Lord Buddha took his last breaths. Inside the temple, there is a 6.1-meter-long reclining statue of Buddha.

Then visit the Rambhar Stupa, also known as Mukutbandhan Chaitya, the cremation site of Lord Buddha, located about 1.5 km from the Nirvana Temple.

Return to the hotel for lunch.  Later drive  to Vaishali ( 220 Kms / 5 Hours the site that hosted the Second Buddhist Council.  En route, visit Kesariya Stupa – the largest Buddhist stupa in the world.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Vashali.

KUSHINAGAR-  VAISHALI

After breakfast, visit:

  • Buddha Stupa I & II – Believed to contain sacred ashes of Lord Buddha.
  • Vishwa Shanti Stupa – Built by the Buddha Vihar Society near the Coronation Tank.
  • Ashoka Pillar & Kolhua Stupa – Erected by Emperor Ashoka, featuring a polished sandstone pillar topped with a lion.

After the visit, drive to Rajgir, where Buddha spent 12 years and the First Buddhist Council was held.

En route, visit the Ruins of Nalanda Mahavihara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and ancient Buddhist university. Also visit the Nalanda Archaeological Museum (closed on Fridays).

Upon arrival in Rajgir, check in at the hotel and have lunch.

In the afternoon, visit:

  • Gridhrakuta Hill (Vulture’s Peak) – Reachable by ropeway, where Buddha delivered sermons.
  • Vishwa Shanti Stupa – Built by Japanese monk Fujii Guruji on Ratnagiri Hills.
  • Venuvana (Bamboo Grove) – A monastery gifted to Buddha by King Bimbisara.

Dinner and overnight stay in Rajgir.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Bodh Gaya approx 65 Kms. En-route  visit   to Dungeshwari Caves (approximately 18 km). Also known as the Mahakala Caves, this mountain is also referred to as Pragbodhi Mountain. It is believed that Gautama Buddha meditated here for a long period before moving to Bodh Gaya. A golden bony Buddha statue is enshrined in one of the cave temples.

Later v, visit Sujata Village – the place where Sujata, a local girl, offered rice milk to the fasting Siddhartha, marking a turning point in his journey.

Upon arrival Check In Hotel .  After Lunch  visit various International Monasteries and the 80-feet Buddha Statue.

Visit the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Bodhi Tree, where the Buddha attained enlightenment.

Walk through the peaceful temple complex and witness the exact spot where the Buddha meditated. Other important sites within the Mahabodhi Temple Complex include:

  • Animesha Lochana Chaitya
  • Chankramana Asthal
  • Ratanaghara
  • Ajapala Nigrodha Tree
  • Muchalinda Sarovar
  • Rajayatana Tree

Return to Hotel . Overnight stay at Bodh Gaya

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Lunch and rest for an hour.

In the evening, attend the Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat, located on the banks of the holy River Ganga.

(Please note: This area is a no-vehicle zone. Vehicles will stop at the designated parking area. You will need to walk or take a rickshaw through a bustling market to reach Dashashwamedh Ghat.)

Return to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay in Varanasi.

BODHGAYA - VARANASI  (  270  Kms /  6 Hours )

Early morning boat ride on the River Ganges. Then return to the hotel for breakfast. Afterward, proceed to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to his five disciples after attaining enlightenment in Bodh Gaya.

 One of four major pilgrimage destinations for Buddhists the place where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon to his five disciples after attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya . Visits Dhamekh Stupa remarkable structure was built by Emperor Ashoka , Deer Park- The site of Buddha’s first teachings and Archaeological Museum (Note: The museum at Sarnath is closed on Fridays ) .

Return to the hotel for lunch. The rest of the day is at leisure or free for shopping—Varanasi is famous for its silk products.

At the appropriate time, transfer to Varanasi Airport to board your flight for your onward destination with happy memories.
